Where his passion comes from:
(My passion comes from) learning about how organizations structure themselves and create a common purpose that all members are inspired by. It has always fascinated me how different organizational entities (from universities to corporations) attract people from diverse disciplines, and despite those differences in expertise and skillsets, they are capable of bringing them together to reach a shared goal.
His proudest accomplishment and biggest challenge:
I believe the biggest challenge involved in online teaching is providing a learning environment in which both students and instructors are engaged and there is constant communication. I overcome this challenge by creating virtual spaces in which students can interact and share their perspectives on course topics and their application to their professional paths.
In terms of accomplishments, I consider one of the proudest moments for all professors is when we see our students finish their degree requirements and get their bachelor’s diploma. A lot of effort and time go into completing a degree program; therefore it is always rewarding to witness how our students reach their academic goals.
On what makes a successful online student:
I think there are two main characteristics: drive and discipline.
One piece of advice he has for his students:
Enjoy the learning/academic experience! Even though at times fulfilling our educational goals can be challenging because of the different commitments we all have in our professional and personal lives, having the opportunity to learn new concepts, develop a new skill set and discuss those perspectives with people who are equally interested in the discipline, is a great privilege. So enjoy and make the most out of this great stage in your academic and professional life!
