27 Â鶹¹ÙÍø Faculty Named World’s Top Researchers

Ranked among most widely cited scientists, engineers

EL PASO, Texas (Oct. 16, 2024) – Twenty-seven current faculty members from The University of Texas at El Paso have been ranked among the . The prestigious Stanford-Elsevier ranking recognizes the top 2% of the most cited researchers within their respective fields.

The 27 faculty are an increase from the 17 Â鶹¹ÙÍø researchers who made the original ranking in 2019.

“Â鶹¹ÙÍø is home to a distinguished group of academic faculty across a wide range of disciplines,” said Ahmad Itani, Ph.D., vice president for research and innovation. “Their pioneering contributions not only advance global knowledge but also shape solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing society today, reinforcing the University's commitment to academic excellence and innovation on a global stage."

The ranking method is based on standardized citation metrics developed by a group of scientists at Stanford University. The original study was published in the  in July 2019. The latest version of the data set was published by Elsevier in the fall of 2024.

The following Â鶹¹ÙÍø researchers were included in the most recent version of the ranking based on career-long citation data:
