The Ph.D. in Computational Science provides students the unique opportunity to conduct integrated research in computer science, mathematics and engineering and take courses in the colleges of Science, Engineering and Health Sciences. This allows them to research and study areas that closely align with their career goals. Graduates of the program are skilled in techniques including mathematical modeling and scientific visualization.

Jonathon Mohl enrolled in the Computational Science Ph.D. program to build upon and advance his background in microbiology and bioinformatics. Throughout his time in the program, he co-authored multiple academic papers and worked in Â鶹¹ÙÍø's Border Biomedical Research Center. The diversity of experiences that Jonathon capitalized upon gave him a breadth and depth of knowledge that he now applies as an assistant professor of mathematical sciences at Â鶹¹ÙÍø.
Graduates of doctoral computational science programs go on to have a wide range of careers, working in industries like electrical and computer engineering, computer science, and aerospace and environmental sciences.
