Students in this research-intensive program can focus their study in one of five concentration areas: behavioral neuroscience; bilingualism, language and cognition; health psychology; legal psychology; or social psychology. Students have ample opportunities to engage in internships, publish research, teach and present in academic settings in order to prepare for careers in academia or industry.

Anna Ziencina is using her studies in the Legal Psychology concentration to further understanding of adolescent offenders’ social relationships and how these impact their offending and substance abuse behaviors. Her experience in the program has allowed her to co-author numerous manuscripts, and she hopes to use her newfound skills and knowledge to pursue a career in data analysis or government policy research.
Doctoral prepared psychologists work in a variety of settings, including academia, research, private practice, and law enforcement.
