Haidar Ahmed is an aspiring physician who pursued the professional science program because he wanted a way to make his resume stand out. Ahmed worked in the microbiology lab of Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s Border Biomedical Research Center and co-authored a study on advances for treatment of leishmaniasis, a tropical disease caused by a parasite. As he pursues medical school, Ahmed is grateful Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s program primed him for a focus on microbiology.
The professional science program enhances the marketability of STEM students by matching graduate hours in a specific discipline in science with complementary graduate hours in a discipline that helps the student meet 21st century workforce demands.
