Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s innovative communication studies program is home to faculty members who are recognized as leaders in fields such as journalism, new media and intercultural communication. The department also houses the Sam Donaldson Center for Communication Studies, named after the Â鶹¹ÙÍø alumnus and former ABC News anchor.
Choose a minor in Secondary Teacher Education with certification in Journalism or Speech

Award-winning faculty members such as Richard Pineda, Ph.D., connect communication studies students to cultural communication as well as the field of rhetoric and public address. Pineda is often contacted by media for expert interviews related to immigration and the change in identity of the United States as more Latinos move into different parts of the country.
Communication studies provides a general overview of the communication field and supports students pursuing teaching careers and graduate programs.
