Industrial and systems engineers find ways to enhance efficiencies in production processes. The Â鶹¹ÙÍø Industrial and Systems Engineering curriculum provides a broad range of courses in human interface design and management, plant design, operations research, production and inventory control, and quality control. Students also have professional development opportunities in the El Paso-Juárez metroplex – the fifth-largest manufacturing hub in North America.

Assistant Professor Sreenath Chalil Madathil, Ph.D., led a team that observed drive-though and walk-up COVID-19 clinics throughout El Paso in early 2021. They used the data to develop simulation models to experiment with a clinic’s performance and reduce patient waiting time throughout the U.S.
The versatility of Â鶹¹ÙÍø industrial engineers allows them to engage in activities that are useful to a variety of businesses, governments and nonprofits. Program graduates work at companies involved in the design, development, testing, production and support of engineered systems.
