Colombia native Mauricio Gomez served in the U.S. Army before earning his degree from Â鶹¹ÙÍø. He said linguistics students acquire skills such as analytical reasoning and critical thinking. Gomez is Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s associate registrar for registration.
The linguistics and bilingualism program prepares graduates for Ph.D. studies in linguistics, as well as for careers in TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and language teaching. Graduates can work for colleges, government agencies and as speech therapists.
