The Learning Environments team provides the following Audio/Visual (AV) services.
• Campus-wide classroom support, equipment maintenance, and yearly AV upgrades
• Consulting services for AV installations in conferencing suites, auditoriums, and other venues
• AV System design from concept to installation
Our primary responsibility is to provide expeditious support to faculty with any technical issues that may interfere with their class instructions. Support calls from the classrooms are prioritized with a goal to answer within three rings. If a support request requires an on-site visit to the classroom, an AV technician is expected to arrive within 15 minutes at any classroom located on the main campus. Longer response times are expected for buildings located off campus.
When a repair requires a classroom to be down for an extended timeframe (i.e. replacement of a screen) we work in tandem with the Scheduling Office to make sure impacted classes have a viable alternative.
As our primary duty is classroom support, AV consultations are handled on a first-in-first-out basis. Project timelines can vary depending on the size of the project, the arrival timeline of parts, and construction if such is required. We work in tandem with Â鶹¹ÙÍø Facilities Services to make sure your project meets its goals.
Please note moving TVs usually requires a cost center due to the need for new mounting hardware, patching walls (to not leave holes in the previous space), and electrical/network port requirements at the equipment’s new location. As such we strongly encourage departments to place a consultation request when planning to move equipment well in advance; at least several weeks in advance to ensure there is no delay.
Technology Implementation Managers (TIMs) or the local on-site support personnel are responsible for the first checks of the event room. If after their preliminary inspection, there is an error with the AV system or something they cannot technically resolve, then they escalate the request to us.
We do not provide event support across campus only troubleshooting and resolving non-working systems as such systems should be checked at least 48 hours in advance of an event to provide us adequate troubleshooting/correction time if necessary.
Faculty can check out portable AV equipment to supplement technology in the classrooms. Wireless mics, doc cameras, video conferencing units, and more are available for check out at the Technology Support Services Equipment Checkout .
