Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering (BSISE)
Industrial and Systems engineering deals with the processes of improving, implementing and evaluating systems that include people, money, machines, information, energy, and materials. Industrial & Systems Engineers work to eliminate waste of money, time, energy, materials, and other resources. They also improve quality and reliability of products and processes. Earning an ISE degree provides so much flexibility, you are NOT restricted to just some type of industries.
Industrial and Systems Engineers can perform a variety of tasks in different industries. But most importantly, they minimize costs throughout processes and organizations in general. This is the main reason why different businesses hire ISEs.

The Industrial and Systems Engineering program produces diverse and exceptional graduates who within a few years after graduation will:

Student Outcomes
The Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering (BSISE) program has seven student outcomes that we expect our students to achieve at the time of graduation. These student outcomes support the BSISE program educational objectives. Attainment of these outcomes prepares graduates to enter the professional practice of engineering. The student outcomes are:
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
- an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
- an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
- an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
- an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
- an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

Fast Track Combined Bachelor's/Master's Programs
Students with at least 90 hours accumulated toward their degree, a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30, and admission to any of our three graduate programs in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering can pursue a joint-degree BS-MS program. This Fast Track Combined Bachelor's/Master's Programs enables outstanding undergraduate Â鶹¹ÙÍø students to receive dual undergraduate and graduate credit for up to 9 hours of Â鶹¹ÙÍø graduate course work. Â鶹¹ÙÍø Undergraduate Industrial & Systems Engineering students may use graduate courses to satisfy up to 9 standard credit hours (SCH) for the BS degree, primarily towards the requirements of the technical electives or as substitutes for some IE courses. This effectively reduces the total time to compete a M.S. in either Industrial, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering by one semester. Students interested in this program should apply by the end of their junior year.
Student Advising
Advising for all declared Industrial and Systems Engineering majors is primarily provided through the Engineering Edge Center designated ISE Advisor.
When the students require advice on course scheduling, course sequencing, course loads, course advice, administrative questions, career counseling, or any other problems, they can also see any of the full-time faculty in the department who serves as undergraduate advisor. The Industrial, Manufacturing & Systems Engineering Department has an open-door policy with respect to advising.
During the registration periods and after advising, the student is free to register for classes restricted by course prerequisite(s) and course restrictions such as departmental approval or class level (e.g., junior/senior).
Students are expected to follow the course sequence outlined in the ISE Degree Plan Advising Flowchart. Students must adhere to all co- and pre-requisites and course restrictions outlined in the course descriptions contained in the , or obtain the proper waiver to take the course. The specific cases were temporary co- and pre-requisites waivers could be issued are:

- For students that are taking or already took the prerequisite at El Paso Community College (EPCC) or other university and have their transfer pending. Â鶹¹ÙÍø system cannot recognize those cases. This waivers will expire a week prior the beginning of the corresponding academic term
- For students trying to register for their final semester.
If a student needs a co- or pre-requisite waiver, he or she should consult his or her advisor to get the initial approval, then he or she needs to get the final approval from the Chair of the department. If not approved, the process terminates and the student is not allowed to register for the course.

- Senior Design Project (IE 4266) can only be taken during the semester when the student is graduating and the student must have a Major and Overall GPA greater than or equal to 2.0 to register for the course. An exception to this policy could be approved for a student during the spring registration. The student must complete his or her degree plan requirements during the summer term.
- All students who are on academic probation are required to meet with the ISE Undergraduate Program Director before registering for the semester. The student must fill a Petition for Reinstatement, which must be approved by the Undergraduate Program Director, the Department Chair, and the Dean of the College of Engineering.
