Annual Giving
Annual gifts to the University, in any amount, have an immediate and positive impact on student success and provide a pool of funds that can be easily directed to where they are needed most.
Yearly support from our alumni and friends is pivotal to Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s mission to provide opportunities of access to an excellent higher education. Through your annual gift, Â鶹¹ÙÍø can enhance the quality of our academic programming by providing necessary resources for deans, chairs and directors to explore new and innovative learning experiences, faculty-led student research projects and other hands-on educational opportunities. Larger gifts can become named scholarships and provide direct financial support to help students cover incidental costs tied to their college experience.
These gifts are often recurring, and can be given annually, quarterly or monthly. The frequency is up to you. By giving what you can each year, to the area of your choice, you help students grow and experience an education like no other.

The College of Business Administration at Â鶹¹ÙÍø has provided me with amazing professional development opportunities. With support from donors like you, I attended a corporate tour of PGIM, Inc. in Newark, NJ, last year.
This experience was key to my career development. I participated in the Actuarial Success Awareness Program (ASAP) and even interned with Prudential Financial last summer as part of their Actuarial Internship Program (AIP) where I gained real-world business experience.

College of Education
I chose special education as my career because I want to advocate for children with special needs. I spend time volunteering at a Down syndrome achievement center, which has increased my compassion and challenged my skills as a future special education professional.
Because of the financial support I received from the College of Education, I participated in a study abroad program and traveled to Seville, Spain. This experience gave me the opportunity to discover what special education truly is—a service to help students with disabilities succeed in their academic journey, both in the classroom and beyond.

Jailene Fraire, Class of 2021
College of Engineering
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved technology and computer games. My ultimate goal is to one day work for Sony, the creators of the PlayStation® in New York City. Because of this, I knew that studying computer science in the College of Engineering at Â鶹¹ÙÍø was the right fit for me!
The resources and support offered through the College of Engineering are amazing and I am looking forward to an upcoming project where I will design and implement a video game in one of my courses. After I complete my undergraduate degree, I plan to continue my graduate studies in software engineering at Â鶹¹ÙÍø.

College of Health Sciences
While I was in high school, my grandmother sustained a leg injury and needed physical therapy to heal. This experience taught me that exercises and movement are important to achieving optimal wellness. That is when I knew physical therapy was for me!
After I completed my kinesiology degree at Â鶹¹ÙÍø, I started the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program in the College of Health Sciences. With financial support from the DPT Program, I traveled to Guatemala and worked with a non-profit organization that offered medical care and surgeries for joint related injuries to those in need. This experience helped me become more culturally competent and it confirmed I was in a professional field that I love.

College of Liberal Arts
As a first-generation college student, my parents encouraged me to earn a degree and recommended I follow an academic path that I loved. I chose music education and I plan to pursue a career in vocal pedagogy and elementary studies.
Receiving my scholarship freed me from the burden of student loans and opened doors for me to participate in organizations that enhance my academic experience. Last fall, I traveled to Leeds, England, with the chamber singers. The best part of my weeklong residency was performing in the historic Leeds Cathedral almost every evening!

Demi Torres, Class of 2020
College of Science
My mother, a servicewoman in the military and a believer in education, always told me that college was in my future—no matter where we lived growing up. The scholarships I received at Â鶹¹ÙÍø alleviated the financial pressure of tuition and allowed me to immerse myself in a major that I love—cellular molecular biochemistry.
Through the BUILDing Scholars award, I conducted collaborative research on Lipedema. During my study, I identified a pattern among people with Stage 3 Lipedema. My mentor, Dr. Karen Herbst and I, created an abstract of our findings and submitted it to the American College of Phlebology Conference in Nashville, TN. Our submission was accepted and we were invited to attend and share our research.
I am grateful for the educational experiences I have received from the College of Science.

School of Nursing
My parents always pushed me to do my best in school so that I could attend a university. They saw my love and passion for nursing after I successfully completed the vocational nursing program in high school. I was awarded a scholarship to attend the School of Nursing, and it was the best decision I have ever made!
I have received hands-on learning experiences in our state-of-the-art Center for Simulation, (SimLab). This lab gives students, like me, the chance to experience different patient scenarios. These learning experiences, combined with the faculty mentorship I have received, are helping me achieve my goal of graduating in 2021.

When I was growing up, I knew two things about myself—that I wanted to go to college and that I enjoyed helping others. My interests in math and science, along with health care, made pharmacy the perfect fit for me!
I received a scholarship from the Â鶹¹ÙÍø School of Pharmacy to participate in the Study Away Program in Nashville, TN. Through this program I participated in faculty-led volunteer opportunities. This experience opened my mind and heart to populations I had never worked with before.
