About the 3 Year Degree Plan
- The curriculum for the BS degree in Chemistry can be completed in three years.
- The major hurdles in doing so are mathematics and physics, and earning 37 upper division credits.
- It is therefore very important that you take as much college preparatory chemistry, mathematics, and physics as possible.
- Consider taking Advanced Placement Courses and taking college credit exams to test out of their corresponding courses.
- For information on college credit exams, view Credit By Exam on the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Student Assessment & Testing website.
- The outline does not include other general requirements of the University, College of Science or Department of Chemistry. For example, you must complete all freshmen courses before becoming a senior (90 credits).
- Full course loads (15+ credits per semester) and summer school also will be required.
- The Department also offers other courses as electives, for instance, CHEM 4362 (Structure of Matter) and CHEM 4176 or 4376 (Research, up to 6 credits) and other courses in the Biochemistry degree as electives.
- Please consult an undergraduate advisor for further details on these degrees.
- This is not the only way to navigate through a BS degree in Chemistry but it is the shortest!
