Accuplacer ESL
The Accuplacer ESL exam assesses students who speak English as a second language in order to prepare them for a successful academic experience.
Who is required to take the Accuplacer ESL Test?
You must take the Accuplacer ESL test if you:- Received your secondary education (high school) in a language other than English.
- Attended English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), English as a Second Language (ESL), or bilingual classes in high school.
- Taken the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination, and scored between paper based 500 - 599 as part of your admissions requirements. TOEFL IBT 61-99. TOEFL Essentials 7.0-10.0
- Taken the Prueba de Aptitud Académica (PAA) and scored 1000 or above as part of your admissions requirements.
- Taken the Duolingo and scores a minimun score of 100.
Please make sure that you check with your academic advisor before taking this test, there are no refunds.
* Starting September 1st, 2019, a $10 test fee will be implemented.
Payment and Registration
Determine if you need to take the test
The Office of Admissions and Recruitment will determine if you need to take the Accuplacer ESL test.
Pay the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Test Administration Fee ($10) and Register –
THE TEST FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE.
Note: A non-refundable convenience fee of $3.50 will be applied for online payments.
NOTE: Graduate students must pay a $30 test fee.
To avoid the convenience fee, you may register in-person at the Testing Office. Payment
may be made in the Testing Office using exact cash ONLY.
Day of the Test
- LOCATION:
- The Student Testing Office is located in the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Library, 4th floor, room 401.
- Examinees are asked to arrive 15 minutes early for check-in. If you arrive late, you may not be allowed to take the test.

- IDENTIFICATION:
- You will be required to present an official UNEXPIRED identification card with a current photo.
- Acceptable forms of identification include:
- U.S. Driver’s License
- Â鶹¹ÙÍø Identification Card

- U.S. Department of Public Safety Identification Card
- U.S. Military Identification Card
- U.S. Alien Registration Card

Scores and Placement
Test Length
You will have two hours in each test session.
Retake Policy
Examinees can retake the Accuplacer ESL one year from the test date only if you have not completed an ESL classes during that year.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
FOOD, DRINKS, HATS, MECHANICAL PENCILS, ALL TYPES OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES, ALL TYPES OF WATCHES, AND CONCEALED HANDGUNS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE TEST ROOM!
